„Nana – Recover your smile“

Nana – ein Mädchen, sie ist jung, hübsch und hat Krebs. Im Jahre 2012 stirbt sie im Alter von 21 Jahren an den Folgen ihrer Krebserkrankung, einem Ewing Sarkom. Für ihre Eltern Axel und Barbara Stäcker ein immer noch unbegreifliches Erlebnis, die eigene Tochter zu verlieren. Doch sie schöpfen neuen Mut, tanken neue Kraft, indem sie den gemeinnützigen Verein „Nana – Recover your smile“ in Gedenken an ihre Tochter gründen. Denn trotz Nana‘s Krebserkrankung genoss sie immer wieder die Verwandlung mit Hilfe von Make-Up und Perücken. Und genau darum geht es. Der Verein „Recover your smile“ ermöglicht es Krebspatienten sich zu verkleiden, sich neu wieder zu finden, sich wieder schön zu finden mit Tipps von Make-Up Profis, für einen Moment die Krankheit zu vergessen und Spaß zu haben.

Ich habe es sehr bewundert wie Barbara Stäcker, Nana‘s Mama, mit der Situation umgeht. Sie hat ihre Tochter verloren, viel zu früh, und der Schmerz ist immer noch da. Doch die ehrenamtliche Tätigkeit hilft ihr damit umzugehen. „Der Tod meiner Tochter war sehr schmerzhaft. Diese Tätigkeit hilft mir, etwas positives daraus zu ziehen und etwas positives an andere Krebspatienten weiterzugeben.“

Der Workshop bei „Lilly meets Lola“ in München 

Mitten in München, in der Sendlinger Straße 50, befindet sich die Make-up Schule „Lilly meets Lola“ die 2010 Sandra ,Lola‘ Kader gründete. Als ich dort am Sonntag Nachmittag ankomme werde ich sehr herzlich empfangen. Es gibt Süßes und etwas zu trinken. Auf einer großen Couch machte ich es mir zusammen mit Barbara und Anna gemütlich. Anna, die an der Uni Salzburg Psychologie studiert, führt mit Hilfe dieses Vereins eine Studie durch. Sie stellt sich die Frage, warum dieser Workshop Krebspatienten glücklich macht. Diese Frage stellte ich mir auch in dem Moment. Nachdem alle Formalitäten geklärt sind, begebe ich mich in einen Raum mit vielen großen Spiegeln, ganz viel Licht, ganz vielen hohen Stühlen und ganz vielen hübsch aussehenden Make-up Artists. Und irgendwo dazwischen wuselt ein kleines weißes Wollknäuel herum. Ein 8Wochen altes Malteser Hundebaby. Soooo süß und total gut um die Stimmung aufzulockern.

Das 1.Shooting

Der Fotograf Michael Baierl von Xomi macht die Fotos. Fürs erste Shooting werde ich ganz natürlich geschminkt. Nichts übertriebenes, ganz leicht, um die Vorzüge des Gesichtes herausstechen zu lassen. Vor einer pinken Wand platziere ich mich, so wie ich bin, ganz normale Klamotten an. So wie ich mich wohl fühle. Und weil der kleine süße Hund im Nachbarzimmer rumtippelt, darf er gleich mal mit zu mir aufs Bild. Das bricht das Eis und lässt mein Herz dahinschmelzen. Ein paar Fotos geknippst und die Sache ist gelaufen. Michael, der Fotograf, macht seine Sache wirklich gut, braucht nicht viel Anweisungen zu geben und ist generell eine sehr liebenswerte Person. 

Das 2.Shooting

Fürs 2. Shooting darf ich mich verkleiden. Dafür geht‘s ab in den Fundus. Ein Raum voller Kleidung, Schmuck, Haarteilen, Perücken und und und. Wie im Schlaraffenland. Zuerst wusste ich gar nicht, was ich davon anziehen sollte. Vielleicht als Hippie verkleiden? Oder doch irgendwas Mittelalterliches? Oder eher als Hamburger Kiezikone? Und da ich aus Hamburg komme, wählte ich das letzte Outfit. Ein goldenes, kurzes Paillettenkleid, dazu schwarze Ankle Boots, eine rote Langhaarperücke und die graue Felljacke durfte nicht fehlen. Dann noch ab in die
Maske und ein verruchtes Make-up angemalt bekommen. Rote Lippen, Smokey Eyes, Rouge. Fertig! Zurück auf die pinke Wand, und los ging es. Verschiedene Posen, Gesichtsausdrücke, alles was ich wollte konnte ich ausprobieren und Michael schoss ein Foto nach dem anderen. Die anderen Teilnehmer sahen mir dabei zu und lachten. Ich lachte natürlich mit, denn ich bin ein positiver Mensch. Auch wenn kein anderer lacht so lache ich wenigstens und zauber aus einer negativen Stimmung eine positive Atmosphäre. „So wir haben es, wir sind fertig,“ sagte Michael. Die Fotos waren im Kasten.

Die Teilnehmer

Wir alle waren durch mit unserem Shooting. Die Mädels die teilnahmen waren alle sehr unterschiedlich. Manche waren noch in der Chemo und hatten Glatze, andere waren gerade fertig und trugen eine fesche Pixie Kurhaarfrisur. Von jung bis alt, naja was heißt alt, von den 20er bis zu den 50er Jahren war alle mit dabei. Und trotz dieser Altersunterschiede verstanden wir uns alle super, kamen gleich ins Gespräch. Und weil einige von ihnen schon ihre Implantate hatten fragte ich gleich mal nach, ob ich mir ihre neuen Hupen anschauen könne. Gesagt, getan. Tür zu vom Fundus und raus damit. Ich muss sagen, die neuen Möpse sahen echt gut aus, gar nicht mal so schlimm und fühlten sich gut an. „Meine neuen sehen besser aus als die alten,“ fügte eine Teilnehmerin hinzu.

Das Ende

Am Ende machten wir noch ein Abschlussfoto mit allen Teilnehmern des Workshops inklusive Make-up Artists und Barbara. Und als Geschenk gab es ein Make-up Goodie Bag von Lilly meets Lola. Darin befanden sich ein Pinsel-Set, Rouge, Lip Gloss und Eye Shadow in verschiedenen Farben alles natürlich gesponsert durch den Verein „Nana – Recover your smile“. Außerdem konnten wir uns noch ein Buch von Nana(Jung, schön, Krebs / Der Tod trägt pink) oder einen Buchgutschein aussuchen sowie einen kleinen Fragebogen von Anna, der Psychologie-Studentin, ausfüllen. Wir alle verabschiedeten uns mit einer herzlichen Umarmung voneinander. Ich muss sagen, es war wirklich schön dort. Es hat mir super gefallen und ich bin sehr froh darüber, dass es solche Organisationen gibt die sich für Krebspatienten einsetzen und so etwas überhaupt möglich machen.

 

Nach dem Workshop

In den nächsten Wochen bekommen wir die Fotos zugeschickt und können uns drei Bilder davon
aussuchen. Es gibt die Möglichkeit, diese fürs Web zu nutzen oder sie in hoher Auflösung auszudrucken. Die vier Stunden vergingen wie im Flug und es war eine sehr schöne Erfahrung an diesem Workshop teilnehmen zu dürfen. Wir haben viel gelacht und konnten unsere alltäglichen Krebssorgen fürs erste vergessen. Dadurch, dass wir alle so verschieden und doch gleich waren, konnten wir uns untereinander austauschen und hatten keinerlei Berührungsängste. Die Teilnehmerinnen kamen nicht nur aus München sondern aus ganz Deutschland.

Ich bin dem Verein unendlich dankbar für diese Erfahrung, dass es diese Möglichkeiten überhaupt für uns Krebspatienten gibt. Durch meine Brustkrebserkrankung lerne ich immer wieder Menschen kennen, denen ich sonst nie begegnet wäre. Und hätte nie an solchen Workshops teilgenommen. Um so faszinierender ist es immer wieder zu sehen, dass meine neue Welt mit Krebs manchmal gar nicht so schlecht ist.

The foundation of „Nana – Recover your smile“

Nana – a girl, she is young, beautiful and has cancer. At the age of 21 years she passes away in 2012 as a result of her cancer disease, a Ewing Sarkom. For her parents Axel and Barbara Stäcker it is still unbelievable to now that they have lost their daughter. But they take comfort from her death by founding the non-profit organisation „Nana – Recover your smile“ which is dedicated to their daughter. However, Nana still enjoyed getting dressed up with the help of make up and wigs. Und that‘s what it‘s all about during this workshop. The organisation helps cancer patients to find themselves in a new way and makes them feel good again in their skin. Make up artists are there to support the cancer patients and love to give them advice about the right make up. Also it is a good way of forgetting the cancer and to have fun with others. I really admired Barbara Stäcker, Nana‘s mother, on how she deals with the situation. She lost her daughter, way too early, and still the pain remains. This voluntary service helps her to deal with the situation. „The death of my daughter was very painful. This work helps me to see something positive in the whole story and it also gives other cancer patients something positive back.“

The workshop at „Lilly meets Lola“ in Munich

In the middle of Munich in the Sendlinger Str. 50 is the make up school „Lilly meets Lola“ based which has been founded by Sandra ‚Lola‘ Kader in 2010. When I got there a bit late in the afternoon everyone welcomed me very lovely. They had some sweets and drinks prepared for us and I sat down with Barbara and Anna on a really big and comfy couch. Anna, who is studying psychology at the University of Salzburg, is currently doing a study with the help of the organisation. She is asking herself the question why this workshop makes cancer patients happy. And exactly that question I asked myself at that time, too. After going through all the formalities I have to go into a room with big mirrors, a lot of light, high chairs and a lot of beautiful looking make up artists. And somewhere in between is a tiny little ball of wool jumping around. A little 8 weeks old Malteser baby dog. Sooo sweet and amazing how this little squeezer is lighting up the atmosphere in there.

The first shooting

The photographer Micheal Baierle from Xomi is taking the picture. I got a very natural make up for the first shooting. Not too much, only a little to get out your best side of your face. Then I get placed in front of a pink wall with my normal clothes on so I feel comfortable. And because the little dog is dancing around in the other room I certainly take him to be with me on my picture. It breaks the ice and lets my heart melt. Only a few pictures are needed and we are done. Micheal is doing his job really well and he doesn’t even need to give me much advice. In general he is a very lovely person.

The second shooting

For the second shooting I can dressed up and for that there is a pool of clothes. It’s a room full of clothes, jewelry, hairpieces, wigs and many more. It feels like the land of milk and honey. At first I didn’t have a clue about what to wear. Maybe I should get dressed like a hippie? Or something medieval? Or maybe I will be an icon of the Hamburger Kiez. And because I am from Hamburg I chose the last outfit. A short golden dress, black ankle boots, a red longhair wig and the grey fake fur jacket. Straight to the make up artist to get my make up: red lips, smokey eyes, rouge, done! Back to the pink wall and ready to kick off. I did different posings, different faces, I could do whatever I wanted to and Michael took them pics. The other participants looked at me and started laughing. And of course I was laughing with them because I am a positive person. Even though no one else is laughing I am laughing at least. And out of a negative atmosphere I can create a positive one. „Ok we are done,“ said Michael.

The participants

We were all done with our shooting. The girls who participated were all very different. Some of them were still doing chemo therapy and were baldy, others were done with the therapy and wore a lovely pixie haircut. From young to old, well what means old, the girls were inbetween their 20s to the 50s.But despite our age difference we all got on really well and started chatting right away. And because some of them already had their implants I was curios to see their new boobies. We closed the door of the clothes room and got them out. And I have to say they looked really well and even felt good. „My new ones look better than the old ones,“ said one of the participants.

The end

At the end of the day we took a group picture of all of us including make up artists and Barbara. As a present we got an amazing goodie bag from Lilly meets Lola which included a make up brush set, rouge, lip gloss and eye shadow which was all sponsored by the organisation „Nana – Recover your smile“. On top of that we could choose a book of Nana (Jung, schön, Krebs / Der Tod trägt pink) or take a voucher for a book. Anna the psychology student gave us another questionnaire to fill out. We all said by to each other in a very heart warming way. I have to say it was so amazing to be there. I loved it and I am so happy that an organisation like that exists and make things like that possible for cancer patients.

 

 

After the workshop

Within the next few days we will receive our pictures and can choose three of them. You can use them for your website or the high resolution one for printing. These four hours flew by so fast and it was an amazing experience to be part of the workshop. We laughed a lot and could forget about our cancer problems. Somehow we were different but also the same we could exchange thought and had no fear of contact. The participants came from all over Germany to Munich.

I am very grateful for this experience and that possibilities like these exist for cancer patients. Through my breast cancer disease I keep on meeting people that I normally wouldn’t have met and I wouldn’t have participated in these workshops either. To be honest sometimes it is really fascinating that my new world with cancer isn’t always that bad.
